City Fibre Works
CityFibre have advised that the footbridge will have to be closed to allow the works to be finished. It will involve full closure of the bridge (potentially for 5 days, but they hope to have the work completed in 3). There is apparently no scope to have the bridge partially open during that time for health and safety reasons.
Therefore, we ask your opinions on whether this closure should be on weekdays only or including weekends. They would have to give us 5 days’ notice, and they are offering to put on a shuttle bus service for us (frequency unknown), suggestions welcomed.

We have reluctantly had to postpone our online community council meeting planned for this evening, and plan to hold this next Monday, 29 June instead. Many thanks to those who have been helping others out, remember, if you start supporting someone new, or your circumstances change, please do let us know – there’s at least another 3 weeks to go …
Anyway, on a more positive note, we are looking forward with optimism to the Summer and hope to have the hanging baskets again (from June) to cheer everyone up, and are looking for volunteer watering teams to make that possible. Many of you who have volunteered to help in the coronavirus outbreak were on the hanging basket watering rota last year, and we hope that you are willing to be on the rota again this year. We will however need some new additional teams to make sure we have enough cover, in case people fall ill or are busy with extra commitments. Each watering team should come from the same household (it’s possible to do the watering alone, but two people make it easier), and the more teams we have, the less any one team will have to do.

Message from Stirling Council:
The response from Stirling’s people during the Covid-19 situation has been amazing, with over 200 individuals, groups, third sector organisations or organisations coming forward to offer support to others so far. Stirling Council and Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE) will now start working closely with this network to support those most in need.
Support Requests
If you are vulnerable, or you know of somebody who is vulnerable, self-isolating and has no immediate support available:

Please let us know who needs support, how to contact them by telephone and if they have any condition we need to know about.
They will be contacted and one of our Local Co-ordination Teams will look at the most appropriate way of getting support to them, through the local Community Response Groups, Third Sector organisations, a local volunteer or more formal support if they require it.
General information on local services is available on the Council website and advice on Covid-19 is available on the Government and NHS websites. People can still volunteer to support this effort through the www.investinstirling.com/key-sectors/volunteering site.

Stirling Council have been in touch regarding our Stirling – You Decide Projects. They advise that in the ongoing difficult situation, only essential work is being undertaken and with the Government guidance that is in place over the next 3 weeks at least. They recognise that there will be a delay to planned work at the moment but will get back in touch when they know that works are able to progress.

Many thanks to all of you who’ve volunteered to help others in our community at this difficult time. It is great that we’ve had such a positive response.
We know many of you are already supporting friends and neighbours, and it would be helpful if you could email to let us know if this is the case.
If you are helping friends and neighbours, please remember to follow the government advice to keep them and yourselves safe – deliver any shopping to the doorstep, follow good hand hygiene, minimise exposure to the virus, etc.
At present, as far as we are aware, anyone needing extra support in Cambuskenneth has help in place, and we will be in touch with volunteers as and when more help is required.

Cambuskenneth Community Council held an emergency meeting last night and are co-ordinating a group of volunteers from the village who are willing and able to help you. We would like to support the community that we live in and ensure that nobody is left isolated or without support.
We are your local neighbours and not a professional body. We can offer help within reason, and in ways we can also stay safe. If you need medical advice, use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service at 111.nhs.uk/covid-19, or if you have no internet access, call NHS 111 from your phone. In a medical emergency, dial 999.
We’re in touch with Stirling Council for their assistance and guidance too.
